Tags and Such

It has been a bit of a hectic weekend. Friday, I spent organizing (yet again) and trying to clean up my "Art Room". I have seriously outgrown the little bit of space I have - especially since it is also our guest room. I need to get rid of the sofa bed that's in there and have more drawers and shelves...Ah, maybe someday!
Anyway, all day Saturday I was at Scrapbook U in Frement taking a very fun technique class by Connie Andrews. We played with gesso, gel medium, tar gel, pumice gel, and diamond glaze in ways I haven't tried. We did all the techniques on watercolor tags with acrylic paints. It was a Golden Extravaganza! A few of the tags are pictured above. Connie is a lot of fun - a great teacher ,full of knowledge and very encouraging. I highly recommend you check out her classes if you're in Northern California Connie@isbjorn.com. Her blog address is on my list.

I also finished the tags for the "She..." swap that I'd previously mentioned. They're not due for about a month, so I may look for tea buttons or charms to add to the fibers. It's hard to see all the detail, but there are subtle background images of hearts, swirls, and teapots.
I need to work on my recipe swap and finish ALSBing the last 3 months worth of kits! Club Scrap will be starting their Pro Scrapbooking League in February. You sign up to make scrapbook pages for "credit/competition" - and prizes and discounts. Everyone is placed on a team and you have the opportunity to earn points for layouts using Club Scrap products. I participated during the summer and was able to complete all the elementary and middle school pages for both kids, as well as some miscellaneous events. They are also doing a cardmaking league along the same lines.
It's not too late to participate - contact me and ask me how!

Craziness in the New Year..

It seems like it's been one thing after another here. FFC Open House, a cold (still a bit stuffy), planning for my parental duties for the school musical, getting info out about Club Scrap, and college angst have made for uncreative busyness!

My daughter thought that the notification for early admission film school applicants at Chapman was January 20th. After a couple of days of nerves and disappointments, I found the confirmation letter that the film school actually begins notifying in February. Aaargh - KIDS! I was preparing everyday for potential emotional turmoil if she was rejected. It takes a lot out of a person! So, we could put our nerves to bed for a couple of weeks.

I've been busy attempting to get swaps completed. As usual, the tags I'm making for a "She...." swap have morphed into something more complicated than originally planned. The "She.." quote I'm using is "She realized that she was missing a great deal by being sensible" - and Alice (in Wonderland) is involved. I'm hoping to post a completed tag soon (famous last words!)

FFC Open House

I never did get back to writing on New Year's Day - it was just too busy. In fact, the first 10 days of 2009 have been very busy.

As mentioned, I have completed training and am a Club Scrap/Stamp Crafter - available for home parties in scrapbooking, cardmaking and bookmaking (and a few odds and ends using Club Scrap cardstock!) To kick off my new venture I decided on an Open House with food and make-n-takes. The above photo is the munchie stuff - wraps. pizza rolls, veggies, cookies and mini cheesecakes.
The 2 top photos are projects. The first is a mini scrapbook using name badge holders and Club Scrap's Private Eye kit. The ribbon binding was also from "Private Eye". (This is a great little project from Splitcoast Stampers website. The completed book fits well inside a purse as a brag book) The second is a trading card size mini book inside a die cut file folder. All cardstock and ribbon are from Club Scrap's Matrix kit.
I made a couple of sales and had one booking (thanks, Tracy!)..hopefully more will be coming...Linda?..
Now, I really need to finish some projects and get started on my "She..." tags for a swap due in February. And , I need to get hotel/apt for a trip to Paris in June (or we'll be sleeping in Le Metro station!)
If you're in the South bay and are interested in Club Scrap - post a comment and we can talk!

Happy New Year!

Out with the old and in with new...or so it's been said! Here's hoping everyone had a safe New Year's Eve and has a great start to 2009.

I need to come clean about my header - I cheated, it's not my work! My good friend, Nancy Young (SquirrelyArt.blogspot.com) was kind enough to make it for me. I feel bad that I didn't give her proper credit in my first, inaugeral post...

Busy creating and getting ready for our annual New Year's Day Fondue fest....more later I hope.
